Tea Light Holder Valentine's Day - Make it Monday

Heyy All,

I know I have been on MIA a lot!.....But hopefully that will now change :)

So here is lovely and easy-peasy Valentine's day DIY Decor for you all, and it also recycles/upcycles old glass bottles and turns them into cute little decorative pieces!

Materials-

• Scissors
• Baby Food Jars Or Small Glass Bottles
• Card Stock Paper- Pink /Red or as per your Choice
• Mini Heart Punch
• White Glue
• Baker's Twine/Yarn/ Jute Twine
• Tealights 

Cut the Card stock into a strip, Punch the hearts and make a paper lace

Once done measure and cut the paper lace and glue it at the bottom of the Jar

Place glue dots on the jar and stick on the punched hearts, you can do a pattern or just stick them randomly

Lastly tie the twine, if you don't have bakers twine you can use any other twine or simply some yarn would also work

Do the more jars in the same way using different color. That's it guys you are done, hope you enjoyed this cute DIY as much as I did!

Recycled Bird Bath/Water Feeder: Make it Monday

When we were in Dallas we had a lovely backyard (I miss all that space here in Singapore), a lot of birds used to stop by, and so I made this recycled bird water feeder/bath from just two things: Detergent bottle and a bright colored plastic lid...

As summer has come I thought this would be a perfect DIY for some summer fun and a bit of relief for the little birds too!

Just Take & Cut...

turn it into This....

Materials:
Any laundry detergent bottle that has a handle
Bright colored plastic lid

The Steps:
1. Nicely wash and clean up your detergent bottle. Remove the label if you want.
2. Cute off the major part of the bottle leaving the handle and about 4-5 inches from base. You can also cut a bit of scalloped design on the handle.

3. Now take the lid and draw a simple flower shape and cut it, cut it from middle on the dotted lines and push your flower on the bottle handle.

4. Secure the flower with some tape.
5. Fill your feeder/bath with water and place in a nice spot with shade.
6. Change the water regularly to maintain the freshness.

Enjoy the sweet little birdies that stop by!!

Phone Stand 

from Recycled/Upcycled Magazine Paper 

Earth Day Special 

Earth Day is on 22nd April. Let's celebrate this day with a special Craft that sends the message of Recycling. This is not only Easy to make but also utilizes almost free Materials and on the top of it very useful and Unisex item!

Here is the Craft of this week "Magazine Paper Phone Stand"...

What you will need:

1. Old Magazine Paper/ Advertisement Flyers
2. Cardboard 5"X 5" Piece
3. Craft Glue
4. Hot Glue Gun
5. Scissors

The Steps:

• First Cut a 3"X 3" piece from the cardboard. (*You can measure the width of your phone and cut the size accordingly, keeping it about 1.5 cms extra.)
• Take you Magazine/ flyer paper, cut it into 1.5 cm wide strips, you will need about 6-7 strips.
• Next Glue the strips randomly to the cardboard piece slightly over-laping, see the picture, cut off the strips leaving about 1.5" extra from the edge of the cardboard. 
• Fold the strips on the reverse side and glue.
• Your base is now ready.

• Now take you Magazine paper sheet and start rolling it tightly (diagonally) to make paper sticks like this,
• After rolling a bit keep spreading glue in between so that later when you cut the strip it won't open up, make 5-6 rolls,
• Let the Sticks dry completely before moving on to the next step.

• Now Cut off the extreme ends of the strip as these are a bit fragile (about 2 - 2.5"). You will have to follow this with every paper stick that you use.
• Cut four small pieces from this to make the sides of the base, remember two sticks that go in between will be slightly shorter in length. For this you will have to use hot glue.

• For the back, Take a long stick, cut the ends, and fold it in half making a 'V" shape, you can also determine the height according to your liking.
• Trim the ends of the 'V' to make diagonal cuts to glue it more securely this will also keep the back slightly slant.
• Using hot glue stick this at one side of your base which you want to be the back of your stand.

• Now cut three pieces as in the picture to give a bit more style to your stand, glue these to the back.
• Cut one more smaller piece and glue it at the base to further secure the triangular back. 
• You can add one more 'V' to the back. Don't Forget to diagonally trim the ends for this too.

• You are now done, to further preserve and make it water resistant you can coat your Phone Stand with paper varnish.
