Hi Everyone, This is Megha from byTheArtBug.

Arts and Crafts were always my passion and that's what gave birth to "by The Art Bug".

As a little girl I was more interested in Crafting & painting than Playing.

But life had something else planned so there I was into full time teaching profession which I loved a lot but I always felt something was missing....So I thought of combining my love for both Teaching & Crafting started conducting Art & Craft Corkshops in 2014 from Singapore.

And became a full time Artist from a college Professor.

With abundance of electronic gadgets & busy schedules it holds true for all of us that investing a little time in creative crafts is a great way to relieve stress, increase happiness & socialise fruitfully.

I firmly believe that Art is the best therapy.

I conduct various art and craft workshops like Miniature making, Clay crafts, Eco-friendly crafts, Paper flowers, Felt crafts, Jewellery, Sewing, Painting Mandala Drawing & more  for all ages.

Educational Background

I have a PhD degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in English Literature. I also worked as a professor at a “Teacher’s Training College” for about 3 years. Getting a University Gold Medal and various merits in academics always made me proud. Teaching to a class of 100 students per batch sure gave me the confidence of public speaking and teaching but I felt I was still missing something so I took this big leap of faith and jumped into the Crafty World.

I also have an Interior Design Diploma from IDI Singapore.

About my Crafts

I design and make unique paper and fabric goodies. The Art Bug shop is full of pieces that would enchant everyone. All my items are 100% handmade or designed by me. I make & sell Paper Flowers, Paper Jewellery, Felt Accessories, Typography & Digital Art Prints, Miniatures, Wedding Stuff and DIY Patterns and Kits. I also do custom orders & personalized work.

I also conduct art and craft workshops in varied areas like miniature making, clay crafts, recycled Eco-friendly crafts, paper flowers, felt crafts, paper jewellery and more. 

Workshops

I have always had the nature and passion of a teacher, after leaving the academic profession and taking the artistic one I still wanted to keep this going and so I thought of teaching “Art & Crafts”. As a child I learned tons of crafts from my mom, my teachers and other family members. I was so much fun and educative to learn something new. To spread this love further I started conducting craft workshops.

My workshops include a very wide variety of crafts as well as learning levels.

My approach is basic and I have a variety of crafts to choose from.

You can also hire me for your school/organization/community.

My ultimate GOAL is that you thoroughly enjoy the workshop you have booked and re-visit again to try your hand at the many other crafts that “by The art Bug” offers.

I started conducting Art/Craft workshops in 2014 from Singapore. I also participated as a Craft Instructor for “Gotong Royong Maker’s Festival” which was an handmade crafts event organised by Singapore Government for Singapore’s 50th Birthday celebration. I was also featured in Singapore's Golden Jubilee magazine “A Celebration SG50”.

 

Workshop Highlights

Art & Crafts That I Make, Sell & Teach

Paper Crafts

I make and teach nature inspired real and life-like Paper Flowers, bouquets and arrangements. These are perfect for weddings, décor, gifts and can be used for various occasions. Apart for these I like making various crafts from decorative papers like, tissue corrugated, card stock and such.

Felt Crafts

I use eco-friendly and wool felt to make flowers, accessories, jewellery, ornaments and plush toys. I also do special occasions and all types of holiday & seasonal décor including Diwali, CNY, Christmas, Thanksgiving etc. Apart from décor & collectibles

I also make usable goods like phone covers, card holders, bags etc.

Clay Crafts

I make clay Miniatures Figurines & Decorations. I like to decorate vases with nature inspired delicate clay work giving them more dainty and sophisticated look.

Sewing

I have a knack for sewing as well. I make useful and functional home decor & accessories like cushions, pillows, table covers, mats, napkins, towels etc. I also make dresses for dolls, kids and adults. I also do machine embroidery, appliqué work and monogramming.

Eco-Friendly Recycled & Up-cycled Crafts

These are very important and close to my heart. I believe in eco friendly and nature friendly practices, I also include it in my passion for crafts. How wonderful is it to turn something that is considered “trash” into “treasure”. Not only these things look beautiful, they are usable and we all get to play our part in recycling in a beautiful, fun and unique way. I use old bottles, packaging, boxes, magazines & newspapers etc. for this.

I do Modern Abstract Art, Fluid Art, Sketches, Acrylic Paintings, Watercolour, Pastel & Charcoal. I love to play with colours and I love doing both traditional and modern art. I love experimenting with colours in my modern art and abstract pieces. Sometimes I like to go minimal with crayons and sketching. I derive my inspiration from Nature.

Decoupage

 I love this art form and I mainly upcycle stuff with decoupage.

Mandala Making

Art itself is like a therapy but to take it a step ahead Mandala making is a wonderful way to beat stress, it is almost like meditation! I take Mandala classes for all ages.

Pipe Cleaner Crafts

This is a unique art that I took up a few years ago. I love making real like pet sculptures, Animals and other figurines with the wire pipe cleaners.

Miniatures

This art requires utmost precision, concentration and skill. For those who have a taste and appreciation for miniatures I make Figurines, Collectibles & Décor pieces. These usually take more time due to attention to detail.

DIY Tutorials

For those who like making it themselves, I design and create easy to work with DIY tutorials, PDF Patterns, Handmade Craft Supplies and DIY Craft Kits. They range from paper crafts to sewing, from clay to painting.

Card Making

In this modern digital era, actual handmade cards hold a very special place. This craft is especially close to my heart as it is getting forgotten. I make and teach a variety of cards for various occasions.
