Dubai - Globetrotting Diaries

Well I have to say that Dubai (United Arab Emirates) is really a modern city. We enjoyed seeing the amazing high Skyscrapers,also the desert atmosphere was kind of cool, especially the Arabian castle like houses! It was a short 1 day trip, but we have to plan another long visit, as there is a lot more to see!

A few interesting facts:-

• The city of Dubai is located on the emirate's northern coastline and heads up the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area.
• Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects and sports events.
• The city has become symbolic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, such as the world's tallest Burj Khalifa, now by far the world's tallest building at 829.8 m (2,722 ft), also adding the ambitious development projects including man-made islands &  hotels.
• As of 2012, Dubai is the 22nd most expensive city in the world, and the most expensive city in the Middle East.
• Dubai has been called the "shopping capital of the Middle East". Dubai alone has more than 70 shopping malls, including the world's largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall.
• On Valentine's Day 2013, the Dubai Miracle Garden, a 72,000-square meter flower garden, opened in Dubailand. It is currently the world's largest flower garden. When complete it will have 45 million flowers with re-use of waste water through drip irrigation.
