Friday Feature- JL from Flyanyways.Etsy.Com

Hello…
I go by JL (because my real name is a super secret) and I'm a glorified “mad one”. I try to fall in the cute and quirky side of the spectrum. I am a trainee biology teacher in my final term of uni and I love science and children but I think probably I should have become a nursery nurse. There is nothing I love more than a Sunday morning around the dining room table with my partners nieces painting, gluing, baking, moulding. My other loves include music, travel, and riding pillion on a motorbike!

My Craft…
At the moment I make and sell jewellery, some of it is made from FIMO which is one of my favourite crafty things and some of it is made with different beads that I find and fall in love with. The love affair I have with my bead supply shop is ridiculous.

My Inspiration…
The inspiration for fly anyways is “happy”. I like to use shapes and colours that make me smile and that I think would brighten up someone else’s day. Fly anyways is also my personal inspiration to do things against the odds. Even if everything is stacked up against you, keep going, fly.

My AHA moment of being an Artist…
Since I was a little girl I’ve been crafting and I think this is because my mum was pretty arty. She was also DIYing or doodling. I also have a cousin who I used to stay with as a kid who used to get me doing all sorts of arty projects.
I’d never dabbled in jewellery making before until I was sitting with some little stars I’d made from fimo and said hey, these would look awesome as ear studs. I got looking for supplies and the rest is history.

My Creative sides are ignited by…
I always want to create. I like seeing things and thinking hey, I could do that and then seeing where the mood takes me. As well as the jewellery I’m currently working on a range of prints which I hope to start selling soon – these are always inspired by sayings or lyrics. Music is a huge source of creative fire for me. Also, sadness. I often feel creative when I’m trying to get out of a sad spell.

My Masterpiece…

At the moment I am in love with these. I love the colour, I love hearts and I love that the texture looks like waffles. I can just imagine them in the ears of some little flower girl with a massive grin and a little puffy dress. CUTE!

Apart from Crafting …
Music. Cinema. Reading. Playing with all the little ones in my life. Tea and Cakes.

When I am busy creating …
I like a little bit of music and have been known to lose time and tune out to the rest of the world.

In ten years I would be…
Teaching my children about bugs in the garden and making things with them – I am ridiculously broody!!

Places to look for me…
