Hello I’m Deborah, a small town girl living in Cedarville, OH. I love to read, write, study, laugh, and craft for my Etsy shop.
My Craft…
I make flannel hot/cold packs, upcycled purses, book covers, eye pillows and other whimsical designs.
My Inspiration…
As evidence by my blog, (GiveThemColor) I love color. And color is one of my biggest inspirators. I’m also very inspired by music, I love soft sounds ringing through my ears or catchy beats that make me want to dance! I’m also very inspired by literature and emotions.
My AHA moment of being an artist…
When I was young I broke my leg skiing (I hit a tree… ‘nuff said :) Because of this mishap I couldn’t play soccer, so my mother enrolled me in a sewing class. I loved to sew right from the start... to see something and think, “Wow I made that!” From them on I sold my items at farmers markets, local shops and eventually on Etsy.
My creative sides are ignited by…
After I read a very sad or very happy book or watch an amazing movie (“Lord of the Rings” anyone?), I feel like creating something and channeling my emotions into it. I haven’t really had success with the “emotions” part but I’m getting there.
My Masterpiece…
I don’t really have a masterpiece yet; but this is probably the most “creative” item I have listed:
Apart From Crafting…
I love to read… Si-fi, adventure, romance, biographies, and I’m obsessed with non-fiction (i.e. “Web marketing for dummies” or “The Quantum Wellness Cleanse”). A few of my favorite books are “The Lord of the Rings,” “Inferno,” “Eight Cousins” and “There you’ll Find Me.” I also love to write: blog posts, Etsy descriptions and essays (if they are on exciting topics).
When I am busy creating…
I like to...
• Be alone (usually)
• Listen to music (Genre varies depending by what mood I’m in)
• Have color swatches, magazines, and really anything inspiring at my fingertips
In ten years I would be…
Running my own Brick and mortar shop in a flamboyant city. Small town now, but I’ve got quite a few big dreams! :)
