Hello…
I’m Shawnna and I’m a Canadian expat living and loving life in the UK. I married a Yorkshire-man so now call North Yorkshire home, for better or for worse!
My Craft…
I sell digital clipart, specifically for commercial use and in particular specialise in custom graphics for web design, blogs, avatars, personal branding as well as for re-sale in craft products like greeting cards.
My Inspiration…
The great innovators of the art world, people who can create something truly new and unique, who see the world from a very different perspective. David Hockney is a favourite artist right now but there are so many to choose from.
My AHA moment of being an Artist…
I can’t pinpoint any particular moment in my life, it’s just always been there; like breathing, the need to create is hard wired and just exists. I guess I’ve never questioned it, but I did ignore it for a long time. I recently decided to do something about that and have started focusing more on turning what I love to do into a way of life.
My Creative sides are ignited by…
The creativity of others. I think it’s contagious. I walk out of a craft fair or art gallery with my head just buzzing in a thousand directions with my own ideas.
My Masterpiece…
I’m far too humble to call this a masterpiece, but I’m currently working on a new series of clipart that incorporate a slightly vintage feel while still being modern in design. You’ll find more like this in my Etsy store in the months to come.
Apart from Crafting …
I love hiking, or as they call it up in the Dales, rambling. We take the dogs out for long walks on the weekends and it really helps to unwind and refocus my mind. I often come up with my best ideas then. I also love the history and culture of Europe and even after 8 years still play ‘tourist’ in my own backyard.
When I am busy creating …
Everything else disappears. I can draw for hours at a time and everything gets blocked out. The only thing I require is an organised workspace, I hate clutter.
In ten years I would be…
Hopefully doing my art full time, living a quiet peaceful life, preferably by the sea, but just immersed in my art and surrounded by my lovely dogs.
